Teams account is blocked and How to recover

All the sudden, my Teams account was suspeneded. I was directed to appeal to unlock my account. This ended up with 'Try another verification method. Sadly, all login directed to other verification methods were the same unsuccessful endings.

Seems the whole process is a loop, a never ending loop.

How can I recover my Teams account?

Hi CHI KIN WONG

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forums. I understand how frustrating it is when your Teams account is suspended and every path loops back to "Try another verification method".

To help me guide you better, could you please confirm:

  • Did Microsoft send an email about the suspension/appeal?
  • Is this a personal Teams Free account (Outlook/Hotmail) or a work/school account?

In addition to the Q&A Assist response above, please try the following:

1. Basic checks

  • Clear cookies for Microsoft/ Teams sites and retry on your usual browser (turn off VPN/incognito).
  • Switch network between Wi‑Fi and mobile data / another Wi‑Fi.

2. Wait 24-48 hours before trying again

Multiple attempts trigger additional security blocks. Please stop all attempts for at least 24 hours then try again on a different browser or device.

3. Use the password reset flow

  • Go to https://account.live.com/password/reset and follow prompts to verify.
  • If your recovery options (phone/email) are outdated or codes aren’t arriving, choose “I don’t have any of these” to continue to recovery.
  • If nothing changes after multiple attempts, Microsoft advises waiting and trying again later rather than looping retries.

4. If the page says the account is locked due to unusual activity

Submit the Account Reinstatement form, which is specifically for accounts locked due to suspicious activity and different from the Account Recovery form (ACSR).

For more details, you can see these official support links:

Thank you so much for your understanding and please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Hi All

I just re-login after two days and received the OTP to unlock my account. That's all I had done. May the SMS gateway or something in MS side got stuck. Thanks for your answers.

To recover your suspended Teams account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check for Email Notifications: Look for any emails from Microsoft regarding the suspension of your account. They may provide specific instructions or reasons for the suspension.
    2. Use the Account Recovery Process: If you are unable to log in and are stuck in a verification loop, you can attempt to recover your account by filling out the recovery form provided by Microsoft. You can access this form at https://account.live.com/acsr.
    3. Try Different Browsers or Networks: Sometimes, using a different web browser or switching to another network can help bypass issues with the verification process.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If the above steps do not work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. You can contact them through the support page and explain your situation to get further help.
    5. Check with Your Organization's Admin: If your Teams account is part of an organization, contacting your IT administrator may help resolve the issue more quickly, as they may have additional tools or permissions to assist you.

By following these steps, you should be able to navigate the recovery process for your Teams account.
