I listen to the radio through my headset but when a call comes in I don't hear it as the volume is too low. If I increase the call volume the radio is far too loud.

    Hi Bowers Jo,
I just wanted to know that if you had a chance to try the audio settings adjustments provided above. Did disabling the automatic volume ducking in the Sound Control Panel and balancing the individual applications in the Volume Mixer help resolve the volume imbalance between your incoming calls and the radio? Please let me know if the problem persists, or if you need any further assistance or clarification on these steps.

    Hi Bowers Jo,

This is a very common issue caused by a built-in Windows audio feature combined with how the operating system handles per-application volume levels. When Windows detects incoming communication, it is designed to automatically suppress background media, which often completely throws off your volume balance. To fix this and equalize your audio experience, please follow these two steps:

    1. Disable Automatic Volume Ducking (Communications Feature)

First, we need to stop Windows from automatically interfering with your media volume when a call comes in.

    • Press Win + R on your keyboard, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter. This will open the classic Sound Control Panel.
    • Navigate to the Communications tab.
    • Under "When Windows detects communications activity:", select the option "Do nothing".
    • Click Apply and OK.
    1. Equalize App Volumes in the Volume Mixer

Now that Windows won't automatically suppress sounds, you need to manually balance the two applications.

While your radio is playing AND your calling application is open, right-click the speaker icon in your system tray (bottom right corner of the taskbar) and select Open Volume mixer.

Here, you will see individual volume sliders for every active application.

Turn your master system volume to a comfortable level, then manually lower the specific slider for your radio (e.g., your web browser) and raise the specific slider for your calling application until they are perfectly balanced. Windows will remember this per-app ratio for future use.
