When Microsoft Defender will support Ubuntu 26.04?

Hello,

according to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-endpoint/mde-linux-prerequisites#supported-linux-distributions it still has no support for newest Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.

Script https://github.com/microsoft/mdatp-xplat/blob/master/linux/installation/mde_installer.sh is also not prepared for that.

There is no mdatp packages in repos for 26.04.

    Microsoft has uploaded a 26.04 version of the defender client to the dogfooding (internal testing) channel of their repository on 16 May 2026.

    There is no formal timeframe for a stable release after a dogfooding release, but the usual timeframe seems to be 2-4 weeks, so we can expect the package sometime around 6th June.
