    Hi Carla Lawson,

I understand how concerning it is when long-standing calendar events, especially recurring events saved over many years, suddenly disappear.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors here do not have access to your account or mailbox data but can help you narrow down where the calendar items may have been stored or synced.

The Q&A Assist answer contains some relevant checks for mobile sync issues. Have you had a chance to try those suggestions yet? I would like to add one important point based on your follow-up that the events do not appear on desktop either.

If the events are missing from both Outlook for iOS and desktop Outlook, this may not be only an iPhone sync display issue. The key check is whether the events still exist in the online calendar for the same account:

    1. Sign in to Outlook on the web at https://outlook.live.com/calendar/ using the same account used on the iPhones and desktop.
    2. Check the calendar list on the left side and make sure the correct calendar is selected, including any secondary calendars.
    3. Search for one event title that you clearly remember.
    4. If the events are not shown there, please also check whether the events appear in the Apple Calendar app under an iCloud or “On My iPhone” calendar. If the events were created under a local iPhone or iCloud calendar instead of the Outlook.com calendar, they may not be recoverable from the Outlook account side.

Before removing or re-adding the account again, I recommend confirming where the events exist online first, because removing an account may not restore events that were never synced to that Outlook calendar.

To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:

    • Do the missing events appear when you sign in to Outlook Calendar on the web?
    • Were the events created in the Outlook app, Apple Calendar app, or another calendar app?
    • Did anything change recently, such as removing/re-adding the account, changing phones, merging calendars with iCloud, or changing the default calendar on the iPhone?

I hope this provides the right next step to narrow down where the calendar events are stored.

On Outlook for iOS, several behaviors can make calendar events appear to “disappear,” especially on mobile devices and over long time spans.

    1. Date range limits on mobile
    • Outlook for iOS does not show all historical events:
      • For Outlook.com, Exchange, and Microsoft 365 accounts (via Exchange ActiveSync), only events from the past 2 weeks are shown on mobile, with all future events visible.
      • For Google and iCloud accounts, only events from the past 2 weeks and up to 6 months into the future are shown.
    • Older events are not deleted; they simply are not displayed in the mobile app. They can still be viewed in Outlook on the web or another client that shows a longer history.
    • Recurring events can appear outside this range only if at least one occurrence falls inside the visible window.
    1. Sync issues between mobile and server If events that should be visible in the current date range are missing on the iPhone, the ActiveSync relationship may be corrupted:
    • Remove the Outlook/Exchange account from the iPhone (or from Outlook for iOS) to break the existing ActiveSync relationship.
    • In Outlook on the web (Outlook Web App), go to SettingsOptionsPhoneMobile Phones/Mobile Devices, select the device, and delete the ActiveSync relationship.
    • Restart the iPhone.
    • Re-add the account in Outlook for iOS and allow it to resync. This often restores missing calendar items that still exist in the mailbox.
    1. Yahoo and other account types
    • If using a Yahoo account and signed in with basic authorization (email and password), calendar and contacts may not sync correctly.
    • In that case, remove the Yahoo account from all devices and re-add it using Open Authorization (OAuth). Note that for yahoo.co.jp domains, calendar and contacts are not supported.
    1. Shared or external calendars
    • If some calendars are shared Google calendars, they may not be selected for sync. Use the Google sync management page (https://calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect) to ensure the shared calendars are checked, then wait at least 20 minutes and recheck in Outlook for iOS.

If recurring events span many years, verify in a desktop or web client (Outlook on the web, Outlook desktop, or Google Calendar/iCloud directly) whether the events still exist there. If they do, the issue is most likely related to the mobile sync window or a corrupted ActiveSync relationship.
