The code on my Microsoft 365 Family card left parts of the code unreadable after being scratched off. I keep going in circles trying to find a solution online. Can anyone help me?

    Hi, I'm John!

If the code became unreadable after scratching the label, there is no way for forum members to recover or reconstruct the key. Your best option is to contact the retailer where the card was purchased and, if needed, Microsoft Support. Be prepared to provide photos of the card (front and back) and proof of purchase. Microsoft Support may be able to review the key and verify ownership.

    • Here is the link: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    • Type this keyword and press Enter: Contact Support
    • At the bottom, click "Sign in to contact support" and sign in with your Personal Microsoft account (Not work or school account), or click "Contact Support" if you're already signed in
    • In Product and services, select "Windows"
    • In Category, select "Technical support.
    • Click "Chat with a support agent in your web browser"

If you ever find yourself stuck in a loop, please use the keywords "Contact Support" or "Live Chat" (without the quotes) and click "Contact Support" at the bottom.

If all is resolved, feel free to mark the answer for this thread. Otherwise, please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

If the Microsoft 365 Family product key on the card is damaged and parts are unreadable, the supported path is to work with Microsoft Support, provided there is valid proof of purchase.

According to the guidance for damaged product keys:

    1. If the product key was damaged but there is valid proof of purchase (for example, a receipt or invoice), Microsoft Support may be able to replace the product key or offer other options.
    2. Go to the Microsoft support page and contact support for assistance. Be prepared to provide:
      • Proof of purchase
      • Details of where and when the card was bought
      • Photos of the damaged card if requested

If the key is considered lost or cannot be recovered and there is no way to validate it, the alternative is to purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription.
