In my opinion, the sidebar is a good feature, but I don’t know why it has been removed from the new update. So please bring it back.

This forum is just a user to user forum, Microsoft announced they were removing some of the functionality in Edge like the sidebar functionality and Collections to slim down Edge and make it more responsive, it is unlikely they will bring back that functionality, the best option is to open Edge, press Alt + Shift + i to open the Edge Feedback Panel and make this suggestion to their developers there.

The sidebar app list (also called the App Tower) in Microsoft Edge is being retired as part of simplifying Microsoft Edge. New apps can no longer be added to the sidebar, and apps currently pinned in the app tower will be removed in a future update. There is no confirmed final retirement date, and the change is rolling out gradually over upcoming Edge updates.

Copilot and the side pane are not being removed and will continue to be available and improved. Over time, as the sidebar app list is phased out:

    1. Some apps can still be accessed directly on the web (for example, WhatsApp, Instagram).
    2. Some apps are or will be available through the Edge toolbar (for example, Drop, Copilot).

There is no supported way in the provided information to restore the old sidebar app list once it has been removed by an Edge update.
