Can't sign up for Azure startup credits

hi I've been trying to sign up for the Azure startup Credits and been unable to. I've looked at using incognito, clearing cache in browser, multiple browsers, I only have one account so all the information is the same. Every time I go to sign up and I click sign up/register it just takes me to my azure dashboard. Is anyone else having problems I don't know how to apply there's no contact, very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

The behavior you’re describing (clicking Sign up / Register and being redirected back to the Azure dashboard) usually indicates one of the following:

    Most common causes

    1. Already-active Azure session is auto-redirecting
    2. Since you’re already signed into Azure, the Startups portal detects your active session and redirects you to the dashboard instead of the application form.

Account already linked to an existing Startups profile (partial application created in the past)

In this case, the system skips the sign-up flow and routes you directly to the portal.

    Browser session / SSO conflict

Even after clearing cache, residual SSO tokens can cause this loop.

    Steps to try

    1. Please try the following in order:
    2. Sign out of all Microsoft accounts first
    3. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/logout
    4. Close the browser completely after sign-out
    5. Open the Startups portal directly
    • Use this URL - https://portal.startups.microsoft.com
    • Sign in with the account you want to associate with the Startup Credits
    • Check application status on the portal
    • If you see a dashboard, your application already exists please look for the “Benefits” or “Application status” section
    • If you see a sign-up form, complete the application using:

Corporate/company-domain email (recommended - personal emails like Gmail/Outlook often fail verification)

    1. Legal company name matching your website
    2. Country (must be a supported region)
    3. Try a different browser in Private/Incognito mode

Recommended: Microsoft Edge > InPrivate window

    1. This avoids SSO token interference
    2. If the redirect still happens, try this URL directly (forces sign-up flow): https://portal.startups.microsoft.com/signup

I think the right step is to open the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub with the same personal Microsoft account and use the support link shown there when the signup page does not open, as that link is provided in the portal.

The behavior described usually means the Azure account and subscription are already created, so the Microsoft for Startups “Sign up” button just routes back to the existing Azure portal instead of showing the 3-step signup flow.

    To confirm and proceed:

    1. Verify the Azure subscription
      1. Go to the Azure portal: https://portal.azure.com
      2. In the left menu, select Subscriptions.
      3. Check if there is at least one active subscription (for example, a Free Trial, Pay-As-You-Go, or a Startup-related subscription).
      4. If a subscription exists and is active, the Azure side of the startup application is already set up.
    2. Ensure the Microsoft for Startups application path is completed
      1. Go to https://startups.microsoft.com and select Get started.
      2. Sign in with the same personal Microsoft account used for Azure (work/school accounts are not accepted for the application step).
      3. If there is no investor referral code, choose the No invite code? / Continue without a code path.
      4. After sign-in, confirm that the application steps complete and that it reaches the “Build your startup” dashboard.
    3. Complete or re-run Azure account creation from the Startups portal
      1. On the “Build your startup” dashboard, look for the “Unlock $1,000 in Azure credits — Sign up” prompt.
      2. Select Sign up.
      3. If the 3-step Azure account creation flow appears, complete:
        • Step 1: Profile information (country/region, name, email, phone, human verification)
        • Step 2: Address information and required consents
        • Step 3: Payment information (card details and billing address)
      4. If instead it jumps straight to the Azure dashboard, the account is already created; in that case, wait for the startup credits to be applied and visible.
    4. Check for startup credits after setup
      1. Once the Azure account creation completes from the Startups flow, the “Build your startup” dashboard should show a confirmation tip: “You’ve unlocked $1,000 in Azure credits.”
      2. Credits may take up to 24 hours to fully update. During this time, the Azure portal may not immediately show the full balance.
    5. If the portal still only loops to the dashboard
      1. Confirm that the account used for Microsoft for Startups is a personal Microsoft account (not a work/school account) as required in the “Before You Apply” step.
      2. If the account is correct and the loop persists, use the program-specific support channel: visit https://aka.ms/startuphelp-mfs-portal from the Microsoft for Startups documentation and submit a support request describing that the Sign up button only redirects to the Azure dashboard and never shows the 3-step flow.

Once the application is accepted (typically within three business days), the startup can manage credits and benefits via the Azure portal and the Microsoft for Startups portal.
