I had to replace my harddrive on my laptop and as well I have a new cell phone. Before this I was able to have PhoneLink work on both my old cell phone and my android tablet. I didn't have to go into the app on my laptop and re-select the device I wanted to use. I haven't been able to do this now. Is there a work around so that I can use both devices.
I find typing messages on my phone with the small keys annoying and if I am out I won't have the option of selecting my tablet. I just want to be able to received and send messages on both devices at the same time.

I understand how frustrating that is, especially when you were previously able to just type from whichever device was convenient.
Phone Link can link multiple Android devices to the same PC, but it does not support using them simultaneously. You can add both your phone and tablet, however only one device can be active in the app at a time, so you’ll need to switch between them manually in Settings > Devices.
At the moment, there isn’t a built‑in workaround in Phone Link to send or receive messages from multiple devices at once. If you need that experience, the closest alternatives are:
Hope this helps clarify what you’re seeing, unfortunately it’s a limitation of how Phone Link currently works.
