    Hi @Anass Zarzour

I hope you're doing well today.

Based on the information you shared that all files and recordings in your friend's Microsoft Teams were accidentally deleted yesterday and could not be located through the standard Recycle Bin, OneDrive, or Outlook.

When files are deleted from Microsoft Teams, they are not stored in the Windows Recycle Bin you are familiar with. Instead, they are moved to the SharePoint Site Recycle Bin, which is a separate recovery area connected to your Teams channel. Similarly, meeting recordings are saved directly to the meeting organizer's OneDrive under a dedicated Recordings folder, which is why they may not have appeared during your initial search.

To help you recover your files and recordings, please follow these workarounds in order:

1/ Check the SharePoint site recycle bin (For Team files)

    • In Microsoft Teams, go to the Files tab of the affected channel, select More (...), then choose Open in SharePoint.  User's image
    • Once in SharePoint, select Recycle Bin from the left-hand navigation panel.
    • If the files do not appear there, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Second-stage Recycle Bin. This is a secondary recovery area where deleted items are retained for up to 93 days.
    • Select the files you wish to recover, then click Restore. The file will be moved back to the original folder in the Teams channel's Files tab.  User's image
    • If the item is still not visible in SharePoint, the site owner or Microsoft 365 administrator should also check the second stage Recycle Bin, as some deleted content may still be available there.  User's image

2/ Check OneDrive for deleted recordings

    • Sign in to OneDrive at onedrive.com using the account of the person who started the recording.
    • From the left-hand menu, select Recycle Bin.
    • Look for the recording file, which is typically saved under a folder named Recordings and may appear as an .mp4 file with a date and meeting title.
    • Select the file and click Restore to return it to its original location.

3/ Involve the Microsoft 365 administrator for deeper recovery checks

Since your friend's account is managed by her organization, please tell her to contact her IT administrator to review your permissions and policies.

    • Checking audit logs to trace the deletion activity.
    • Verifying if the file was permanently deleted or moved.
    • Exploring recovery options through backup services or Microsoft Purview and opens the eDiscovery or Content Search tool if your organization has retention policies in place.
    • Ask them to review whether a retention policy, compliance hold, or backup option is available in the environment.
    • Since the deletion happened yesterday, it is important to perform these checks as soon as possible while recovery options may still remain available.
    • If the issue persists after these checks, ask your friend's IT administrator to submit a support request directly to Microsoft Support team.
