I have recently contacted support about an unrelated issue and ended with them resetting my pc to a version previous to the problem however after i logged back on both the roblox and alderon games launchers do not open, steam and xbox work fine however when i try open roblox it states "cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of windows" and when I try opening the alderon launcher it reroutes me to the microsoft store because "Your pc doesnt have an app that can open this link" any help is great Edit: I have solved the roblox side however alderon is still an ongoing problem

Hi Drew Jones,

For the Alderon launcher, the message “Your PC doesn’t have an app that can open this link” typically points to a missing or broken protocol registration for that launcher rather than a general system issue.

Here are some possible troubleshooting steps that you can try next:

1, Reinstall using the official installer

  • Uninstall the Alderon launcher from Settings > Apps
  • Download a fresh copy from the official Alderon/Games site
  • Install and launch it once as administrator

2, Check default app handling

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps
  • Search for “Choose defaults by link type”
  • Look for any entry related to the launcher (if present) and assign the correct app

3, Reset web/app associations

  • Open Settings > Apps > Default apps
  • Scroll down and click Reset all default apps

Please also test launching directly - navigate to where Alderon is installed and run the .exe file directly instead of using a shortcut or link

If this works, it confirms the issue is only with link association rather than the launcher itself.

Follow these steps in order on Windows 11 to fix launchers that won’t open or show “incompatibility” messages:

    1. Confirm Windows and Store apps are up to date
    • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any available updates.
    • Open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates and let it update all apps, including any game-related components.
    1. Check app compatibility and versions The message “cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows” indicates that the Roblox launcher version installed is not compatible with current Windows 11:
    • Uninstall any old/legacy Roblox or game launcher versions from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Download or reinstall the latest versions that explicitly support Windows 10/11 and 64‑bit systems. If the app is from Microsoft Store, reinstall it from Microsoft Store > Library and select Install for that app.
    1. Fix “Your PC doesn’t have an app that can open this link” This message usually appears when the protocol or app that should handle the link is missing or broken:
    • If the launcher is a Microsoft Store app, reinstall it from Microsoft Store > Library and select Install.
    • If it is a classic desktop installer, download the latest installer from the publisher and reinstall it so Windows re-registers the correct protocol/association.
    1. Use the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter for older launchers If a launcher is older or not updated for Windows 11:
    2. Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    3. Run Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.
    4. Select the problematic launcher and follow the on-screen steps.
    5. If the app still doesn’t function properly If the launcher opens but behaves incorrectly (flickers, freezes, or is unresponsive):
    6. Run the compatibility troubleshooter again as above.
    7. Update device drivers via Windows Update (especially graphics drivers) using Settings > Windows Update.

If, after these steps, Roblox or the Alderon launcher still report incompatibility, they may not yet support the current Windows 11 build; in that case, check the publisher’s site for a Windows 11–compatible version or guidance.
