Easy Anti-Cheat causes windows to 'freeze'.

It only happens with EAC but only with Rocket League. Everytime I launch the game, it will be working fine but as soon as I tab out or quit the game, I cannot open any other apps besides a browser sometimes. It will not let me open task manager or let me shut down my PC. Sometimes clicking on shutdown brings up the 'shutting down' screen, but it will be stuck on that forever until I force shutdown. Which I have to do everytime. I tried reinstalling both the game and Epic launcher and still nothing. Was in talks with Epic support and they gave some steps which I did and still nothing. Another thing I noticed is that the hard drive light on the PC case is usually just flashing for any other game but once I quit RL, it stays red, which I think is that EAC is just staying on in the background locking everything up. I can launch RL without Anti-Cheat and of course there is no issue. Only with it. No other game is giving me issues and I followed every step and 'fix' I could online.

Everything is up to date and working fine apart from RL.

Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

Can you please check the System logs on the PC so I can further examine the root cause of the issue?

To share the System logs, please follow the steps in the link below:

Press the Windows key + X, then select "Event Viewer"

Click the drop-down of "Windows logs"

Right-click System > click Filter Current logs > Check: Critical, Warning, and Error > Hit OK

On the right pane, click "Save Filtered Log File As..."

Save the System logs file to your desktop and share it by following the steps from the link:

The described behavior matches a known incompatibility between Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and Windows 11, version 24H2 on some devices with Intel Alder Lake+ vPro processors. In rare cases, opening or playing certain EAC‑protected games can cause the device to stop responding or effectively “freeze,” sometimes with a blue screen, but it can also manifest as severe hangs when exiting the game.

Key points from the documented issue:

    • The problem is specifically between Windows 11 24H2 and Easy Anti-Cheat.
    • It affects only certain devices (Intel Alder Lake+ with vPro) and certain games.
    • The system can stop responding when opening or playing affected games.
    • Microsoft applied a compatibility hold so some affected devices would not be offered 24H2 via Windows Update until the issue was mitigated.
    • The safeguard hold has now been removed, but some devices may still warn that an incompatible version of Easy Anti-Cheat is installed.

Recommended actions based on the documented resolution:

    1. Ensure Windows is fully updated to the latest build of Windows 11, version 24H2 (or later) via Windows Update, because the safeguard hold has been lifted and fixes are delivered through updates.
    2. Launch Rocket League and allow it (and EAC) to update fully. Easy Anti-Cheat updates are distributed by the game publisher, so the latest EAC version may be obtained by simply updating and running the game.
    3. If a warning appears during a Windows upgrade or update indicating an incompatible version of Easy Anti-Cheat, follow the prompt and confirm only after ensuring Rocket League/EAC are updated.
    4. If the issue persists even after both Windows and Rocket League/EAC are updated, contact the game’s support or Easy Anti-Cheat support, as EAC update availability and compatibility depend on the game publisher.

These steps align with the official mitigation path for the EAC/Windows 11 24H2 incompatibility.
