How to run a full scan with defender?

To run a manual full scan with Microsoft Defender on Windows:

1. Open the Windows Security app:
   • Select Start, type Windows Security, and open it.
2. Go to Virus & threat protection.
3. Under Current threats, select Scan options (or Scan options link below the Quick scan button).
4. Select Full scan.
5. Select Scan now.

This scans every file and program on the device. The scan can take some time depending on the size of the drive and number of files.

Alternatively, from the same Virus & threat protection page, Quick scan can be run, or Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) can be chosen under Scan options for an offline check.
