I am having trouble accessing Google or my gmail acount. I keep getting referred to Bing, and my email is listed under Outlook now.

What's going on and how do I fix it?

This behavior usually means the Gmail account has been added into Outlook/Microsoft 365 and is being accessed through Microsoft services instead of directly through Google in the browser.

To get back into Gmail directly and stop the redirection behavior, use these steps:

    1. Check Gmail access and IMAP settings
      • In Microsoft Edge, go to gmail.com and sign in directly to the Google account (not through Outlook).
      • Open Gmail Settings (gear icon) → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
      • Under IMAP access, make sure Enable IMAP is selected, then Save Changes.
      • Still in Settings, go to the Labels tab and ensure Show in IMAP is selected for Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail so Outlook can sync correctly if used.
    2. Verify Outlook/Microsoft connection to Gmail
      • If Outlook or Outlook.com is being used, the Gmail account may be connected through the Microsoft Cloud.
      • Make sure the Gmail settings (IMAP enabled and folders visible in IMAP) are correct so Outlook can work without blocking or failing and forcing repeated sign‑in attempts.
    3. Use Outlook only as a mail client (optional)
      • If email is now “listed under Outlook,” that typically means Gmail has been added as an account in Outlook. Email is still stored in Gmail; Outlook is just a client.
      • If Outlook is not desired for Gmail, remove the Gmail account from Outlook’s account list and continue using Gmail via gmail.com in Edge.

If Gmail still will not open directly and always sends to a Microsoft sign‑in or Bing page, remove any Gmail account that was added as a Microsoft account alias and then access Gmail only via gmail.com in Edge.
