Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

What is the exact error message you see when you try to sign in to Minecraft with your Microsoft account (using the new primary alias)?

If you have a Microsoft account, for example, account A, and you add an alias to that same account, you can use either the primary alias or the additional alias to sign in to all Microsoft services and games. However, if you remove the original alias A and set a new alias as the primary one, you will no longer be able to use the old alias to sign in.

Since your question doesn’t include all the details, please provide the following information:

    1. What is the exact error message you receive when you sign in with your new alias?
    2. When you go to the Manage how you sign in to your account page, which email address is listed as your primary alias?
    3. If the issue is only with your password, have you tried resetting your password?

    Follow these steps in order:

    1. Confirm the correct Microsoft account
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and enter the email address you believe is on the Minecraft account.
      • If you see a password prompt, that email is a Microsoft account.
      • If you see “We couldn't find an account with that username” or “That Microsoft account doesn't exist,” check spelling and domain (for example, .com vs .co.uk) or try another email/phone you may have used.
      • You can also use the Sign-in Helper tool to look up the correct account: Sign-in Helper.
    2. If the email is a Microsoft account but the password is forgotten
      • Use the standard password reset flow:
        1. Go to Recover your account.
        2. Enter the email, phone, or Skype name for the Microsoft account.
        3. Choose where to receive the security code (email, phone, etc.).
        4. Enter the code, then set a new password.
    3. If there is no access to the old security email but the password is known
      • If there is still access to at least one security method (another email or phone):
        1. Sign in to the Advanced security options page: Sign in.
        2. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify and add a new email or phone.
        3. Verify it with the code sent.
        4. Expand the old security info (the email that cannot be accessed) and select Remove.
      • Do not remove all security info at once, or the account can be restricted for 30 days.
    4. If there is no access to any security info and the password is not known
      • Use the account recovery form:
        1. Read the guidance at Help with the Microsoft account recovery form.
        2. Submit the form here: Recover account.
      • Provide as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, approximate creation date, devices used, etc.).
      • If the automated recovery process does not grant access, the Microsoft account cannot be recovered, and support cannot override this.
    5. If the account was hacked and details were changed
    6. After regaining access
      • Once sign-in to the correct Microsoft account works again, start Minecraft using the official launcher and sign in with that Microsoft account. In similar cases, launching through the official Minecraft launcher once has refreshed the license so that other clients recognize the purchase.
