I see that there been any issues reported with the new outlook and the ability to not sort by email subject where if you highlight a specific email, outlook takes you to the cluster of emails that tie to the subject. Has this issue been addressed? This availability was in the classic outlook and having had to move to new outlook due to issues with outlook classic and storage, it is very time consuming not to be able to sort by subject and it take you to those emails that you highlighted to sort.

New outlook does not let you sort by subject where you select an email to sort by then select the subject header and it take you to the grouping of emails by subject. It does the sort but then you have to scroll through your inbox to find the cluster of emails. Classic outlook used to take you directly to the grouping of emails that tied to the highlighted email. It's very inefficient and time consuming.

Has this been addressed? I want to see each subject line as ONE group email. Currently it shows up as a drop down of each thread... this new view was a silly "enhancement" and makes it impossible to do an inbox clean up by subject line to select multiple emails at once.... please undo or allow user options to customize the view. Changing the "group by" settings does not fix the issue

    Dear @Brian McCarthy,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I’m truly sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing with Sort by Subject in the New Outlook.

Based on my research, in Outlook Classic, the application maintains focus on the selected message and automatically adjusts the scroll position to follow that message to its new alphabetical position in the list. In contrast, New Outlook successfully reorders the message list by subject but does not reposition the view afterward.

Because New Outlook is built on the same code base as Outlook on the web (OWA), the sort action is handled more like a fresh query of the mailbox database. As a result, the list refreshes without maintaining focus on the previously selected message.

I can't stress enough the importance of your feedback in this scenario. I strongly recommend that you share your detailed experience and feedback directly with the Microsoft product team through their official feedback channels. This is the most effective way to make your voice heard and influence future feature improvements and adjustments.

You can visit the Outlook (new) · Community to submit a new idea or vote on existing one. Our product team is in charge of the site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback. The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay, and a lot of the features are developed and improved based on customer feedback. As a moderator, I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for further consideration. While I don't directly influence product design, user feedback is actively reviewed and helps prioritize future development. If you’re unable to submit feedback yourself, please feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll be happy to submit it on your behalf.

I really understand how convenient this feature would be for your workflow. I want you to know that I wish I had a way to change it for you directly but as a moderator of Q&A forum, my ability to assist is with the existing product functionality and the power to influence its design rests entirely with our product development team. I appreciate your kindness and understanding as we deal with these evolutionary product changes. Please get in touch if you need anything else. Have a wonderful day.
