How to get the Home Screen view in new Outlook

In the previous version of Outlook, you could set it to open on a home screen where you had a summary of your meetings for the week and a list of tasks. I'd like to get this back if I could, the "My Day" feature is useless - you have to keep clicking to bring it back, it blocks half your email inbox, and you can only see a couple of meetings ahead without scrolling (instead of your whole week). Copilot has happily advised me that I can use my second monitor for the My Day feature to give a better experience, so I'm aware that it's possible for the current user experience to be unimaginably worse than it already is, but it would be great if there was some way to make this at least slightly more usable.

Dear @Andrea TAPPE,

At this time, this feature is only available in Classic Outlook, it is not available in the New Outlook experience. To help ensure your request is captured by the product team, I recommend submitting feedback. Microsoft places a strong emphasis on customer experience, and all feedback shared by users is taken seriously. Every comment matters, and product teams actively review customer input to help guide future decisions and improvements.

That said, as a Microsoft Q&A forum moderator, I am not involved in product design decisions and don’t have visibility into or influence over the product development roadmap. While I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, please know that your feedback is both acknowledged and valued.

To ensure your suggestion reaches the appropriate product team, I highly recommend submitting your idea through Microsoft Ideas · Community, which is the official feedback channel reviewed by Microsoft’s engineering and product teams. If multiple customers raise the same idea, it may increase the likelihood of consideration for future updates.

How to submit your feedback:

  1. Visit Microsoft Ideas · Community
  2. Select Send Feedback
  3. Share your idea and describe how it would improve your experience

Please rest assured that you’re not alone in requesting this type of functionality. I’ll continue to monitor related discussions, and if any updates or announcements are made regarding this feature, I’ll be happy to share them with the community.

In addition, you can also raise a feedback directly from within New Outlook: Go to New Outlook > Help > Feedback > Make a suggestion

In the New Outlook for Windows, the classic “home screen” (Outlook Today) view is not available. That summary page for calendar, tasks, and messages is only supported in classic Outlook for Windows (Outlook for Microsoft 365, 2024, 2021, 2019, 2016).

To restore a similar experience, switch back to classic Outlook and configure Outlook Today as the startup page:

    1. Open the classic Outlook desktop app (not New Outlook for Windows).
    2. On the Home tab, in the left pane, select the main email address associated with the account.
    3. Select Customize Outlook Today toward the right of the window.
    4. Select the When starting, go directly to Outlook Today check box.
    5. Choose Save Changes.

In New Outlook for Windows, the available customization is limited to features like My Day, the navigation bar, and ribbon/view settings; there is no option in the provided documentation to recreate the full Outlook Today-style weekly summary and task list as a persistent home screen.
