Quick ways to restore your Teams tab

    1. Keyboard shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + T. This reopens the last closed tab. Keep pressing it to cycle through previously closed tabs until your Teams tab reappears.
    2. History option: Press Ctrl + H to open your browsing history, then search for Teams and click the link to reopen it.
    3. Direct access: If none of the above works, simply go to https://teams.microsoft.com and log in again. Since you were already signed in, it may restore your session automatically.

    Dear @Anvika Behl,

I hope you’re having a good day, and thank you for reaching out

From what you described, I understand that you had already signed in to your Teams account, but you accidentally closed the tab and are now unsure how to get it back.

If that’s the case, please don’t worry, nothing has been lost. Your account, chats, and Teams data are still there, and you just need to reopen Teams again.

You can simply Open your browser and go to https://teams.microsoft.com, then sign in again if needed

Or, if you are using the Teams desktop app, just reopen the Teams application from your computer. Everything should appear again exactly as before.

Because your question is also related to Teams and Channels, I just want to mention one additional possibility: if you do open Teams again but don’t immediately see the Teams / Channels section on the left side, it may just be a view/navigation change rather than something being removed.

In that case, you can try:

Press Ctrl + 3 to quickly open the Teams / Channels view

    User's image

Or check the left sidebar to see if the layout has switched (More options > Customize view > Chat and Channels > combined view), and switch it back if needed

However, if I may have misunderstood your situation and you meant something more specific (for example a particular chat, meeting, or screen), it would be very helpful if you could share a bit more detail or a screenshot. That will help me better understand your case and guide you more precisely.

I hope the information above helps, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance or have any updates

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,

If the Teams tab in the browser was closed by mistake, reopen access like this:

    1. Open the browser again and go to the same Teams site (for example, by reopening the browser’s recent/closed tabs or typing the Teams URL used before).
    2. If a Sign in banner appears in Teams, select it and sign in with the same account that was used before. Complete any prompts such as multi-factor authentication.
    3. If the sign-in window does not appear:
      • Check the notification area (system tray) on the taskbar for the Teams icon with a dot or exclamation mark and select it to open the sign-in window.
      • If nothing opens, close and reopen Teams (right-click the Teams icon in the system tray and select Quit, then start Teams again).
    4. After signing in successfully, Teams will restore access to chats, calls, and meetings.

To avoid losing access again, keep Teams signed in and avoid switching networks (for example, from office Wi‑Fi to public Wi‑Fi) while Teams is open.
