New Outlook for Mac - Need to clear out autofill / auto-complete list

There seems to be a ton of information out there about how to do this in Windows and even Legacy Outlook for Mac, but there don't seem to be solutions for New Outlook for Mac. One of the companies that I work with just changed ownership so hundreds of emails of my contacts needs to change. I have slowly been updating all of the contacts in Outlook and trying to recreate contact lists. My Outlook version is Version 16.109.2 (26052523).

How can I once and for all get rid of the old emails that are auto completing / auto filling when I compose an email?

As there have been many complaints posted, there is no longer an X on the right-hand side of the email in the TO field next to these email addresses. I cannot remove them one by one in this way. And Delete does not work here either as it just temporary removes what I have already typed. I can start typing again and the same old email address auto fills in.

I have reset the account numerous times and those email addresses are still in there.

There is NO autocomplete cache that I can find in this directory - "~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/"

I did find this but it looks like it is more of an image history, not the actual email address: Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Caches/Image Cache

Where is this information stored for NEW Outlook for Mac so I can delete the autocomplete history?

    Hi ms dclark

According to my research, the current behavior of New Outlook for Mac, the AutoComplete (autofill) feature works differently compared to both Windows and Legacy Outlook for Mac, and this impacts how these entries can be managed.

While there is currently no direct way to fully reset the list, the following approaches may help reduce or refresh the suggestions you can consider:

    • Update or remove old contacts: Ensure outdated email addresses are removed from the Contacts (People) section.
    • Recreate the account profile: Removing and re-adding the account can reset some locally cached suggestion data, though results may vary.
    • Switch to Legacy Outlook (temporary workaround): Legacy Outlook still allows:
      • Removing entries individually
      • More predictable handling of AutoComplete data

If this behavior significantly impacts your workflow, I recommend submitting feedback via Help > Feedback in Outlook, as this is monitored by the product team and helps prioritize improvements.

If you are admin, you can try:

    • Updating or cleaning up directory (GAL) entries if incorrect addresses exist there
    • Assisting users in removing outdated contacts from their mailbox

However, these actions do not fully reset the AutoComplete history, as it is influenced by multiple sources.

I hope this information helps and if you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know in the comment section!
