someone stole my account

A few months ago someone hacked into my account and changed the password and email. I accidentally created another email on the same account, and now I would like to at least get Minecraft back, or if possible, the Minecraft account. I have proof of purchase and proof that I played on this account.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, the hacker was able to remove the account's primary email address/security info and replace it with their own email address.

Since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account along with its purchased licenses such as the game Minecraft, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

However, I would recommend reaching out to Minecraft Support regarding your Minecraft account if they can provide an alternative option:

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

If someone hacked the Microsoft account used for Minecraft, changed the email and password, and security info has been replaced, recovery is only possible through the official Microsoft account recovery and hacked-account process. If that process fails, the account cannot be recovered and Support cannot override it.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Use the official hacked-account recovery guide Go through the steps in the Microsoft article for compromised accounts, including scanning devices for malware and then attempting account recovery:
    2. Use the Sign-in Helper and recovery form
      • Start with the Sign-in Helper: Open the Sign-in Helper for support options or hacked account issues.
      • This typically leads to the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR). Fill it out with as much accurate information as possible: old passwords, approximate creation date, devices used, and any purchase details.
      • If the recovery form result is negative, try again from a different device and network, and use an InPrivate/Incognito browser session as suggested in the guidance.
    3. Understand the limits of recovery
      • If the hacker has changed the primary email, password, and security information, and the automated recovery form does not grant access, there is no alternative manual method for Microsoft to restore the account.
      • In that case, the Microsoft account (and its attached purchases, including Minecraft) is considered unrecoverable.
    4. Contact Minecraft Support about game access Even if the Microsoft account cannot be recovered, Minecraft Support may be able to advise on options for your Minecraft license or access, based on proof of purchase and account details. Use the official Minecraft support channel referenced in the guidance:

If the Microsoft account recovery succeeds, you will regain access to the account and therefore to the Minecraft licenses and Microsoft Store purchases linked to it. If it does not, the only remaining path is through Minecraft Support to see if they can offer any alternative for your game access.
