Cancel Subscription billing when i do not have Azure RBAC access nor i do know who has

Hello Jozef, In Azure, billing access alone isn’t always enough to cancel a subscription. To cancel, you must have the right permission based on the subscription type.

Why you can’t cancel right now

• If you don’t have the subscription owner role (or the required equivalent), you won’t see the “Cancel subscription” option in the Azure portal.
• An account administrator without the subscription owner role can’t cancel an Azure subscription. In that case, you need to involve the person in your org who does have the required permissions (typically the subscription owner).

What you can do instead (two common options)

Ask the subscription owner to cancel

1. In the Azure portal, go to Subscriptions (or the Cost Management + Billing area that shows your billing subscriptions).
2. Identify who is the subscription owner / account administrator for that subscription (they’re the ones who can cancel).
3. Ask them to cancel the subscription from the portal:
4. Cost Management + Billing → Subscriptions/Azure subscriptions → select the subscription → Cancel subscription → pick a reason → follow the prompts.

If you have active resources in the subscription, cancellation typically requires you to Turn off resources as part of the cancellation flow (and it’s important to back up anything you need first).

If you can’t cancel, remove resources to stop charges (if applicable)

If your goal is “don’t want to use this subscription anymore,” but cancellation isn’t possible due to permissions, you can instead remove all resources from the subscription to prevent unwanted charges (until the right person cancels it).

About “Transferred” / “not under Azure subscriptions”

That can happen depending on how the billing relationship is set up in the billing profile and whether you have access to the actual Azure subscription context. The key takeaway is still permission-based: only the right role can cancel the subscription.
