Since purchasing more space on OneDrive I can no longer send emails from Outlook

I kept getting notices from One Drive that I was out of space and needed to purchase more storage space. I did this through Microsoft, now I am unable to send emails from Outlook I get the following error message: Server error: '554 5.7.1 [PII: Removed] : Client host rejected: NO THANKS'

How do I correct this issue? I have important emails to get out on a project and no longer can send them.

Thank you,

[PII: Removed]

    Hi

I understand that you are having trouble sending emails from classic Outlook after purchasing additional OneDrive storage, and I’m happy to help.

Please note that purchasing additional OneDrive storage does not usually require any extra setup in classic Outlook. However, if your Microsoft cloud storage was full, it can affect your ability to send or receive email in Outlook.com until your account is back under the storage limit. You can review these Microsoft articles for more information: Can't send or receive email in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support and Microsoft storage quotas - Microsoft Support

The error “554 5.7.1 ... Client host rejected: NO THANKS” usually means the message is being rejected by the receiving mail server or a mail security gateway, rather than by the OneDrive purchase itself.

    Please try the following steps:

    • Test from Outlook.com in a browser
      • Sign in to Outlook.com and try sending a simple test email with no attachment and no signature.
    • Check whether your storage is now below the limit
      • Please confirm that both of the following are no longer over quota:
      • Your Microsoft cloud storage / OneDrive storage
      • Your Outlook.com mailbox storage

If you recently purchased extra OneDrive storage, it could take up to 24 hours for the new quota to appear.

    • If it works in Outlook.com but not in classic Outlook
      • If the test email sends successfully from Outlook.com but fails in classic Outlook, please try one of the following:
      • Remove and re-add the account in classic Outlook.
      • Create a new Outlook profile and test again: Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support
    • If the error happens only with specific recipients
      • If the issue only occurs when sending to certain contacts, please ask the recipient’s email administrator to check whether your email address, domain, or sending IP is being blocked by their mail filter.

Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!

I had emailed the recipient before ordering more storage and the email was sent fine. Now when replying to that same recipient I get the error. This can't just be coincidence. When I purchased the additional storage was there another step I had to do to make sure Outlook would work correctly? I tried emailing another contact and get the same error.
