My apologies on this and instead of deleting it from the get go, you may try to add a different payment method first and once done you can check if you will be able to delete the expired credit card afterwards.

If you will still encounter an issue even after trying out the alternatives, you can reach out to the support team at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and then click on Microsoft 365 and then click Get Home Support and then type in Billing question and click the blue button that says Sign in to contact Support and login and proceed from there.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. My apologies and I understand that you are looking into removing an expired credit card on your Microsoft account.

May I check and confirm if there is an error whenever you are trying it out?

You can also check and try this on a different browser or use inPrivate or Incognito browsing and see how it goes as well.

Use these steps: Add or choose a different payment method Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the account that owns the subscription. On the past‑due or active subscription that used the expired card, select Pay now or Manage. When prompted for payment, either: Update the existing card details if only the expiration date changed (new expiry, security code, billing address), or Add a new payment method (new card, PayPal, etc.) and select it for the subscription. Pay any past‑due amount If the subscription is past due, complete the payment with the new or updated payment method so there is no outstanding balance. Replace the old card on all subscriptions For each subscription that still shows the expired card, change its payment method to the new one. Remove the expired card After all subscriptions have been moved off the expired card and no balance is owed, go to the Payment methods area for the Microsoft account and delete the old card. If the card still can’t be removed after these steps, contact the bank (to confirm there are no pending charges) and then contact Microsoft support for direct billing assistance.

None of these answers work! I just want to pay for my subscription!!!!! I need a phone number to call a person!

For Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft subscriptions, an expired card usually can’t be removed until either:

    • All subscriptions using it are moved to a different payment method, and
    • Any outstanding balance is paid.

    Use these steps:

    1. Add or choose a different payment method
      1. Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the account that owns the subscription.
      2. On the past‑due or active subscription that used the expired card, select Pay now or Manage.
      3. When prompted for payment, either:
        • Update the existing card details if only the expiration date changed (new expiry, security code, billing address), or
        • Add a new payment method (new card, PayPal, etc.) and select it for the subscription.
    2. Pay any past‑due amount
      • If the subscription is past due, complete the payment with the new or updated payment method so there is no outstanding balance.
    3. Replace the old card on all subscriptions
      • For each subscription that still shows the expired card, change its payment method to the new one.
    4. Remove the expired card
      • After all subscriptions have been moved off the expired card and no balance is owed, go to the Payment methods area for the Microsoft account and delete the old card.

If the card still can’t be removed after these steps, contact the bank (to confirm there are no pending charges) and then contact Microsoft support for direct billing assistance.
