How do I know if my Microsoft office 365 allows having it on up to 5 computers?

Most Microsoft 365 consumer subscriptions that include the desktop Office apps allow installation on multiple devices and being signed in on up to five at the same time.

To check what applies to a specific subscription:

1. Confirm the subscription type
   • Go to the Microsoft account services page (account.microsoft.com/services) while signed in with the subscription account.
   • Look for the product name, for example:
     • Microsoft 365 Personal
     • Microsoft 365 Family
   • Subscriptions like Microsoft 365 Personal or Family include the right to install the Office apps; Microsoft 365 Basic does not include desktop apps.
2. Apply the device/sign-in rules
   • For Microsoft 365 subscriptions that include Office apps:
     • Office can be installed on all devices.
     • The account can be signed in to Office on five devices at the same time. If a sixth device is signed in, Office automatically signs out from another device; signing back in reactivates it.
3. If using Microsoft 365 Family sharing
   • The subscription holder can share the subscription with up to five other people.
   • Each person can install Microsoft 365 on all their devices and be signed in on five devices at the same time.
