Hello,

I previously owned a Hotmail address that was accidentally deleted several months ago.

Later, I created an Outlook account using the same username.

Now, when I try to sign in to the old Hotmail account, Microsoft says the account does not exist. However, I also cannot recreate the same Hotmail address or add it as an alias to my current Microsoft account.

I noticed that only outlook.com aliases are available to create now.

This issue is also affecting services connected to my Xbox/Game Pass account.

Is the old Hotmail address permanently reserved, or is there any way Microsoft can restore or reattach it to my current account?

Thank you.

The whole Hotmail domain has been changed to a "Reserved Domain". Microsoft will not allow you to create a new account or alias with a Hotmail domain. I'm sorry but you can't get the old Hotmail address back.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5914862/reserved-domain-error

if an alias from a Microsoft domain, such as @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com, is removed, it is permanently deleted and cannot be associated with any Microsoft account again.
