    Hi @Halpin Amy

I hope you are doing well today.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your request to switch from classic Outlook back to the new Outlook experience.

This can occur because, after switching back to classic Outlook, the new Outlook app may need to be reopened either from the Try the new Outlook toggle or directly from Windows. In addition, if the toggle is not visible, the option may be unavailable for the current account or controlled by an organizational admin policy.

To help with this, please follow the steps below, as they are the most suitable for this situation:

1/ Switch from classic Outlook using the built in option

    • Open classic Outlook and check the upper right corner for Try the new Outlook.
    • Turn the option on and allow a few minutes for the new Outlook app to open or complete installation.
    • When prompted, sign in and choose whether you would like to import your existing settings.

2/ Open the new Outlook app directly from Windows

    • Select Start and search for Outlook (new), then open it directly from the app list.
    • If both versions are installed, you can pin Outlook (new) and Outlook (classic) to the taskbar for easier access in the future. Run new Outlook and classic Outlook side-by-side - Microsoft Support
    • If Outlook (new) does not appear, install or reopen the app from the Microsoft Store, and then sign in with the same account.

3/ Check for policy or profile limitations if the option is missing

    • If you are using a work or school account and the toggle does not appear, your organization may have disabled access to the new Outlook.
    • Update Office from File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now, then restart Outlook and check again.
    • If the option is still unavailable after the update, please contact your IT administrator to confirm whether the new Outlook has been enabled for your account.

I hope the information I shared earlier was somewhat helpful in addressing your issue. If you have any further questions or updates, please don’t hesitate to share. I’m always happy to assist further if needed.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.

To switch back to the new Outlook after returning to classic Outlook:

    1. Open classic Outlook for Windows.
    2. In the upper-right corner, turn on the Try the new Outlook toggle.
    3. Classic Outlook will close and the new Outlook for Windows will open.
    4. Sign in if prompted and choose whether to import your classic Outlook settings.

If the toggle is not visible, the account or admin policy might not yet support new Outlook.
