How to connect Epson V600 Scanner to HP laptop

My Epson V600 scanner had been working fine until about 2 weeks ago. I scanned hundreds of pictures and negatives over a couple of week period and laid off for awhile. When I logged back in to start up again, I clicked the Epson Scan 2 icon, the window briefly flashed but did not open. I tried a lot of troubleshooting items but nothing solved the issue. It seems my laptop does not recognize the scanner. I tried uninstalling the driver but the computer wouldn't execute it. What can I do to resolve this problem?

    Hi! Let me help you.

If you have already tried the latest driver for your Epson, try an older driver.

Use Windows to verify and reinstall the scanner, then reinstall the Epson software.

    1. Confirm Windows still sees the scanner
      1. Make sure the Epson V600 is powered on and its USB cable is firmly connected to the HP laptop.
      2. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners (or use the shortcut: Open Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & scanners).
      3. In Printers & scanners, check whether the Epson scanner (or its multifunction device name) appears in the list.
      4. If it appears as a printer, select it and check that Scanner settings is listed in the device window; this confirms Windows still detects the scanner as a scanner.
    2. If the scanner is missing, add it again
      1. In Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select Add device next to Add printer or scanner.
      2. Wait while Windows searches for devices; when the Epson scanner appears, select Add device next to it.
      3. After installation completes, confirm it now appears in the Printers & scanners list.
    3. If Windows does not find the scanner
      1. Ensure the scanner is powered on and try a different USB port on the laptop.
      2. If still not found, use Add a new device manually (next to The printer that I want isn't listed) in the Add Printer window and follow the prompts to add it.
    4. Verify the scanner installation
      1. With the scanner turned on, go back to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      2. Confirm the scanner (or its printer entry with Scanner settings) is listed. This ensures Windows recognizes the device before using Epson Scan 2.

Once Windows correctly lists and recognizes the scanner, reinstall or repair the Epson Scan 2 software from Epson’s site if the app still flashes and closes. The Windows side must see a working scanner device first; otherwise, Epson Scan 2 will fail to open.
