Hello!

I am trying to see if I can make one final plea to see if I can get my son's Microsoft account back. On April 10th, 2026 it was hacked. I have been trying now since then to get his account back. I have called, been rerouted, tickets escalated and then just flat out ghosted when trying to get any actual human response regarding this.

Is there anything I can do? The account is still tied to my family account but the hacker changed the email address to my son's linked account.

I'm sorry to say this: If the username, password, recovery information (e.g., phone number, alternate contact email) and MFA information have been changed - and unless the thief is a complete amateur, that's the first thing they did - you will never get the account back.

For Microsoft, it's not a matter of "we're too busy" or "we don't care." It cannot be done. Because there is no longer a way to distinguish between your son and the thief. For Microsoft, the person who can sign in is the owner of the account.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

I'm sorry you and your son are experiencing this.

Since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl
